Basics/Set-up Technique
The ability to play a variety of shots to a variety of different deliveries is only possible with a fundamentally sound and comfortable set-up. A batsman's set up consists of three key factors, grip, stance and backlift. While batsman will shape their own variations of these aspects over time (take Steve Smith), it is important to begin with the standard, technically sound set-up.
With a strong grasp on these key fundamentals, it is possible to begin developing other skills.
